Pregnancy update: 27 weeks

Wednesday, December 7, 2016

I know I skipped week 26, but I felt awful last week because of this never ending cold and really wasn't up for taking pictures. Things have been pretty steady in the last couple of weeks, so not much to update you on in terms of pregnancy changes. I am in my last week of the second trimester, and offically 6 months pregnant. I can't believe only 3 months to go until we get to meet this little babe!

How far along: 27 weeks
Size of baby: Head of lettuce
Weight gain: 20.2 lbs

What am I wearing: Maternity clothes?
My bank account has suffered in the last couple of weeks as my wardrobe was dwindling down to a mere few outfits that fit. I had to buy a couple more maternity pieces (and it pains me how expensive maternity clothes are), but also found some non-maternity pieces at Value Village that I can use to layer.

How do I feel: Symptoms?
Pregnancy-wise I have been feeling good. My belly is definitely continuing to grow each week and my belly button is slowly disappearing. This morning I was woken up by a Braxton-hick contraction! It was such a crazy feeling and weird to feel how hard my belly was for that quick moment. Unfortunately my efforts to get rid of this cold haven't worked but I am starting to feel better.

Movement: Lots of strong movements that can definitely be felt from outside my belly these days. It still takes me by surprise sometimes when I feel a super hard kick!

Sleep: My sleep has been interrupted by my cold this past week, but baby has been on the same sleep schedule as me, so I haven't been woken up through the night from kicking etc. (yet).

What I am most looking forward to: Getting things set up in the nursery and nesting at home as we prepare for our little babe to arrive.

Outfit details:
V-neck sweater (non-maternity, but a size up): Smart set (thrifted) | Pants: H&M maternity

Fall Trends: Shearling

Sunday, November 27, 2016

We started to have some winter-like weather last week, which has me pulling me out my winter jackets. I have been looking for a jacket for this winter season and have been seeing a wide range of shearling jackets lately. These ladies pull off the shearling jacket perfectly and prove that you can stay chic while dressing for the colder weather.

Sometimes, it's all about how you style it — the fastened collar provides extra warmth and makes a statement.
Don't let the Winter shut out your style. Add personality with a scarf — that's easy, right?

Fall maternity fashion: 25 weeks

Friday, November 25, 2016

We are nearing the end of week 25, and baby is the size of cauliflower. She is growing like crazy these days and probably weighs around 2 lbs already!

What am I wearing: Maternity clothes?
I had to give in and buy some maternity staples, which I'm so happy I did. I've been much more comfortable wearing things with proper stretch and in the right places! Somehow it makes me look not as big now that my clothes aren't being stretched to their max!

How do I feel: Symptoms?
Every week when I get my weekly pregnancy updates, the symptoms listed always seem to be right on track with what I am feeling. This week, it's been very dry eyes. Everything else seems to be moving right along too such as stretching pelvic muscles and my belly button is starting to stick a tiny bit.

Movement: Baby has been moving and kicking like crazy this week! I've even had a few rib jabs starting. Her daddy says she's going to be a soccer player like mom.

Sleep: Sleeping well for the most part but am waking up more often to get into a more comfortable position.

What I am most looking forward to: Nearing the end of the 2nd trimester and closer to the 3rd trimester, which means we are getting that much closer to meeting our growing little bean.

Outfit details:
Denim jacket: H&M | Sweater: Smart set | Leggings: H&M (non-maternity) | Booties: Gap

You know those girls that always seem to look so effortlessly cool, that's Dree. Her style has been influenced by years in the fashion and film industry, with a twist of her own quirkiness. She is inspiring me to take a more relaxed and fun approach to my wardrobe this winter.

Travel: [What to wear] England in the Winter

Tuesday, November 22, 2016

A visit to England during the winter may get you away from the snow, but that doesn't mean you won't need to keep warm. The weather can be tricky, so I wanted to share some tips to help you pack for a visit to England.

[What to Wear] England

What to pack for 1 week in England

  • You'll want a light jacket, and a heavier one for those colder days.
  •  Sweaters are the key to keeping warm on those cold damp days that you are walking around visiting the sights. I would suggest to bring sweaters that you can layer so that you get the most use out of them.
  • Depending on your itinerary, you'll want at least one nice blouse that you can wear out, and some more casual tees for daytime.
  • Cardigans are great for layering and if you get a day without rain you can venture out without a coat!
  • Footwear can be tricky because you don't want to bring anything too bulky, but keep in mind you will need something comfortable, warm, and practical for the weather.
  • Pack neutral bottoms such as leggings and jeans to be able to work with any outfit. And throw in something different like a dress or skirt if you want to dress things up a little.
Other:
Tights, Mittens (hat optional), and Umbrella.
A couple of scarves to keep warm and change up your look.

Fall Maternity Fashion: 24 weeks

Thursday, November 17, 2016

We are in the middle of Fall and I must say that I am enjoying being pregnant in a season where oversized sweaters and leggings are acceptable. Here's my weekly update for those who have been following my pregnancy journey.

How far along: 24 weeks
Size of baby: Eggplant

What am I wearing: Maternity clothes?
I've officially dug out all of my winter clothes to see what I can fit into before I make the move to buy any more maternity clothes. Things are getting tight, so I stick with maternity bottoms but have been trying to get away with non-maternity tops as long as possible. I've just been layering long tank tops under shorter shirts like this one to try and squeeze out a few more wears.

How do I feel: Symptoms?
Every day has been different depending on how much I try to do in a day. When I feel like I have the energy to get stuff done, I usually end up over doing it and just crash by 9pm.
I experienced my first debilitating muscle cramp this week, which was so painful. I woke up suddenly one morning when I felt my calf lock up and I had to force myself to stretch it out despite the pain. I've read that it's common but I have been trying to stay hydrated and rest to prevent it from happening again.

Cravings: I had my first strong craving this weekend for something sweet, and since I have been trying to keep healthy food at home, we didn't have anything. So my wonderful husband made a trip to the grocery store at 8pm and brought home a cupcake and ice cream (for him). Apparently the cashier made a comment about his choices and he said it was for his pregnant wife! lol We're both taking advantage of this "free pass" while we can.

Movement: Baby's kicks are getting stronger and it's been crazy to see my stomach moving when she gets going.

Sleep: I have had a few restless nights over the past week which hasn't been fun, but I know it's only going to get worse the bigger my belly gets. *Sigh

Best moment of the week: Getting some of our nursery furniture delivered! Now to put it all together.

Outfit details:
Open cardigan: Joe Fresh | Tee: Forever 21 | Jeans: Old Navy (maternity) | Boots: Dr. Martins
